Bits N Pieces

This past week has been interesting, I’ve pretty much either had to work late, take kids to soccer or pick Khrystyne up from work. So it’s been pretty busy. On Saturday Breanna and Ricky had their first soccer game; Breanna had hers at noon, and Ricky had his at 2:45 so after her game we just hung out at the park until it was time for his game. I think that may have been a huge mistake. It was the first really nice day out and I left my sunscreen at home, so needless to say we all got too much sun especially me, my face and arms are burnt. (Breanna’s little face was red as could be.) I’m always the one yelling at my sister to make sure that she uses sunscreen on her kids. Oh well, I just didn’t think of it.

We had another person start at work today, I had meetings and planning all day so I had to get a few minutes in with her; and then passed her off to Shirley for the rest of the day. I like to train people on their job first and then slowly show them some other things as they come up. (I’d rather them be good at a few things than to suck at many) I think Shirley showed her a little bit of everything throughout the day. Elizabeth looked totally confused by the end of the day. I assured her that she would not need to know all of that right off the bat. She said, “Good, because the last two hours she’s been talking, but I couldn’t tell you a word she said.” So tomorrow I’m taking my new hire back so she doesn’t get scarred off. I’ve got two more girls starting on Monday, so I’m close to getting fully staffed once again.

Brad (another manager at work) came in and closed the door and said that his wife had just called and told him that she came home early and searched their 16 year old daughter’s room and found drugs. So he left early to go home and deal with that. Of course I took the lead and came home and talked to my two teenage daughters about what had happened. Courtney said I wouldn’t even smoke a cigarette, because you would probably beat me to death. I said, “I would, so don’t try it!!” She started laughing I gave her a quick glance and she shut up really quick; I said, “I’m not kidding, you’d better never.” Thankfully I don’t think that I have anything to worry about just yet, but I still keep a look out, but then again they are teenagers and have absolutely no sense what-so-ever.

Khrystyne called me Friday night to come pick her up from work around 8:00pm (I had come home from work and went straight to bed, I wasn’t feeling well) so I had Rick to go pick her up. Just after he left she called me crying, this woman (31yrs old) has been giving Khrys a hard time at work. She used to be the librarian at Khrystyne’s school until she was fired, and now she works one night a week at the pizza place. Anyways she is always making rude bitchy comments to Khrystyne and giving her dirty looks. Well on Friday she was talking about Khrystyne right in front of her, and then started telling the manager that Khrys was not doing her job etc… Long story short she got the best of Khrystyne on Friday and she called me crying. I wasn’t feeling well anyways so I called Rick and asked him where he was he was just pulling into the parking lot. I told him that he needed to get inside and find out what the f**k was going on (and I hurried up and filled him in) so he went inside to get Khrys, and the manager came outside to talk to Rick about what was going on, Rick kept asking Khrys to let him know what had happened so that Matt could take care of if, but Khrystyne wouldn’t talk to him (she is really shy, and really doesn’t speak up for herself.) so Matt went back inside and of course Khrystyne started spilling her guts about what had happened. When she was almost done she looked up and said there she is. (Jill had thought that Rick and Khrystyne had already left) So Rick went up and confronted her, and then he let her know that she is a grown ass woman and if she has a problem with a sixteen year old that she could take it up with him. So she ran back inside and yelled, “Matt you need to get up here right NOW!” Rick said, “Yeah Matt you do need to get up here.” He said, “I’ll tell you just what I told her and repeated everything that he had told Jill” and then he left. By then I had already been filled in as to what the bitch had to say and I was more than awake at that point and half tempted to go up there myself. Khrystyne was upset that her dad said something, but I told her, “Your dad is right; she can pick on a sixteen year old girl that hasn’t found her voice, but lucky for you your mom & dad have both already found theirs and she will think twice before she opens her mouth up to you again, because next time I will snatch that bitch bald headed.” To say the least the conversation got a little heated, but what can you expect.

Khrystyne has a world cultures club program at school this Thursday, so we are going to that, and then she has to baby sit this Friday. Saturday she has Prom, and Sunday they are all going to Kings Island. So she already has this weekend off, so her and this woman at work will have another week to cool off. But we’ll see how that goes.

Well this is getting lengthy so I’d better go for now.

Soccer Mom

Yesterday was very interesting at work; I didn’t think that I would get nearly as much work completed as I did, but for the most part it got done.

We took Breanna for her Soccer pictures last night she was happy just to wait her turn and hang out with her team. I’m pretty sure that we will have another social butterfly on our hands (which is not necessarily a good thing) Courtney can pull straight A’s if she wanted to but we are lucky if she brings home B’s and C’s, and at least one grading period she will be nice to us and bring home straight F’s.

Ricky will go for his pictures on Wednesday night (the same time that Breanna is supposed to be at soccer practice) so we will see how that one works out. We got him a new Spiderman t-shirt over the weekend and last night was the first time that we managed to get it off of him. I swear he wore it three days in a row (and yes he did bathe in between then, he just insisted on putting that shirt back on) He loves to get new clothes, and shoes I think more so than Breanna does. He is real funny about what he doesn’t like though, if he doesn’t like it you are not going to make him wear it.

My husband went through some of Judy’s things yesterday (his mother) and he finally got all of those boxes out of our bedroom. They have been there since September; it’s nice to have our bedroom back. I tried not to complain about it, but this weekend I finally asked when we were going to put them up. (We have a storage closet.) Anyways he took the hint and put everything away, so now I guess it’s my turn. I made some boards for her funeral with pictures of her and the family, Rick asked me if I was ever going to put those pictures back in the albums and I have been putting it off so I’d better get to that this weekend. I still think about her all of the time, we had been friends for 17 years and I really miss her. Rick is doing much better, but some days he still has a hard time.

Well it’s time to get ready for work, more later…

The week in review...

Breanna & Ricky

It’s been a busy week, I called in sick on Monday (I must have eaten something bad on Easter.) I worked Tuesday and Wednesday morning and then I had to leave to go to the emergency room. Tuesday night I noticed some knots in my legs that were painful, it hurt to walk, sit, lay you name it. I called my doctor’s office on Wednesday morning to see if I could be seen, and she told me to go straight to the emergency room. So I spent most of the day there getting an ultra-sound on my legs to see if I had blood clots once again. They gave me some medicine and sent me home with an excuse for work allowing me to stay home on Thursday as well. (Now I’ve used 3 of my 6 sick days in one week!) Thursday I got up in time to put Breanna on the bus (Rick took Ricky to my mothers before he went to work) I came back home and went to bed, my phone was beeping around noon. So I got up and turned it off, ate lunch and went back to bed until the girls got home from school. So I pretty much wasted a whole day off. But I truly did feel like shit.

We are going to be short handed at work again next week; our new girl is going for new hire training. After being told that CSR’s no longer had to attend, she went behind my back and talked to the branch manager about really wanting to go, she felt that she could benefit from the training. (It’s more of a technicianl training, for our service technicians) So now she is getting to go because she batted her eyes at him a few times. When I came back to work on Friday I was made fully aware that she had not been completing her work, from the other CSR’s. So as soon as she came in I told her that when she was logged into the system to let me know, that we needed to go over a few things. So when she was ready I let her know that the work that she had not completed for the WHOLE MONTH was the exact reason that we had let the previous person go to begin with… And I let her know in a not so nice way that it was not in her best interest to go behind my back to get her way. She has to work with me, and normally I’m a very nice person, laid back, easy going, but you do not want to be on my bad side, because I’ll admit it I can be the biggest bitch ever and I’ll make it to where you WANT to quit… So we will see how she works out over the next few weeks, I think I made my point though because before she left she made sure that her work was caught up and completed.

We have been interviewing for two weeks now, and still not one person has come on board. We are getting into our busy season, and I am already doing about four people’s jobs, and next week I can add Stacy’s work load on top of that. We are going to hire three more full time people and 1 part time person. So hopefully this time next month my stress level will be much lower. Because honestly as it stands now I’m ready to look for another job; I have to work six days a week and almost every single day I work over. I know that I am the office manager, but damn I need some time off for myself and my family. The kids haven’t seen their grandpa Jim since Christmas. Now that’s sad. Honestly some days I feel that I could be making myself sick again by pushing myself so hard.

Ricky and Breanna’s soccer games were canceled yesterday, it was raining sleet… IN APRIL… It has been cold for the past few weeks; most of Breanna’s practices have been canceled due to the weather, last week Rick took her to practice and it started raining real hard and then the tornado sirens went off. So they took off running to the van and apparently they were not just going off for no reason we had a couple of tornado’s touch down.

It’s just been a really crazy week, and to top it off I’ll be turning 35 years old this coming Friday. But in another perspective this will be my second birthday since being diagnosed with cancer, when initially I didn’t think that I was going to make it through treatment. So it is a great thing, and I am truly thankful for being her another year; I’m just not happy that I will be officially chasing the big 40 because I don’t feel that old yet.

Me and Rick just celebrated our 12 year wedding anniversary on April the 7th, time flies when you are having fun... I feel that I have truly married my best friend. He takes such good care of me and the kids and I am truly blessed to have him in my life. I love you baby.

Khrystyne will be going to prom with a group of friends on the 28th, and then they will be going to Kings Island with the school after that. Just a few more years and she will be grown. (I can’t wait)

BCBS = A-holes

Can I express my huge dislike for American Blue Cross Blue Shield?? I have a friend here at work that has been recently diagnosed with liver cancer; he received a letter from our friends at BCBS letting him know that he no longer has coverage through them because this is considered a preexisting condition… (Say what? For those who don’t know Liver cancer is a fast moving, deadly cancer that you really cannot hide for almost a whole year.)
Also my friend over at the Cancer Blog has had many issues with BCBS in getting the tests that his doctors deem medically necessary. There’s nothing like money hungry corporations; that are willing to take your money until you actually have a need for their service.

On much lighter news isn’t Shelby the cutest thing, she is already six months old. Now which one should we call the plumber for??

Well I’m finally up and running.

Breanna is doing much better; she and Ricky are now playing soccer. Their first game is this weekend. Ricky is a real natural he is only four but he is picking it up very nicely. Breanna is a little uncoordinated, but she really loves it.

I went for my check-up today with Dr. Cripe, my blood work was better that it has been in months. I’m officially eighteen months in remission, I’d hate to jinks myself but I’m really excited that I’m only six months away from two years. (Five years remission is considered cured for my form of cancer; although it could still come back) Rick came with me today for my appointment (especially after what the doctor said during my last check-up). I told Dr. Cripe today that I have been extremely tired this last month (I can go to the grocery store and be totally wiped out). At first he gave a look to his nurse Katie, and then he suggested that it could be due to me being overweight, and maybe I might have sleep apnea. I have done enough research to know that it is cancer related fatigue. I’m not just tired, I fell bone weary tired.

Work is still crazy; we are growing so fast we cannot add people fast enough. They have made me office manager so now it is my problem. I have to do my own work, plus interview, and train as well. They don’t pay me enough for everything that I do. My husband reminds me of that every chance that he gets.

We are currently planning our 4th of July trip to Michigan (to visit family); if I handle the trip ok we may stop at Cedar Point on the way back for the day. We are also planning our family vacation for next summer to Washington D.C., and then to Bush Gardens (it will be our 1st real family vacation since 2003).
